“Come on—run!” shouts Dorian from behind you, gesturing wildly. “Forget the demon. We’ve got more important things to worry about!”
“More important than a demon?!” you ask in disbelief.
“Oh, for—leave the demon!” Dorian says.
You can’t just leave a demon loose in the Grand Proving Arena gardens… or can you? It might take out some of the Venatori you’ve left alive—and, after all, this place isn’t called the Proving Grounds for nothing. It would certainly be a proving for whoever found the demon next.
Although, to be fair, it would probably be some poor groundskeeper or leaf-washer or whatever they have in here to keep the highbloods happy. You’re pretty sure this thing is not going to be bested by a rake.
You hesitate, caught between the perfectly sensible desire to follow Dorian’s suggestion and the feeling that you really ought not to leave unfinished business behind.
