The last few wisps are still bobbing across the sky in a river of blue-green luminescence when you exit the Grand Proving Arena and stand for a few minutes in the street, catching your breath and watching the light show.

Impressive teamwork has led to an equally impressive victory with minimal damage on your side. Even the wisps appear unharmed and as cheerful as ever. You don’t know how Neve managed to befriend half the wisps in Nevarra or what magic she used to call to them for help, but you’re awfully glad of it nonetheless.

The Venatori—and the arena—were not as lucky. Someone is going to have a terrible cleanup job to deal with tomorrow and, as much as you and Tarquin might hate your day jobs most of the time, you’re both very glad it isn’t going to be you.

As you trail back to the pawn shop, Mae says, “Don’t any of you expect to hear from me tomorrow.”

“Oh?” says Ashur.

“I’m taking a spa day,” she says. “If any problems arise while I’m gone that need my attention… no, they don’t.”
