“I don’t have any ideas,” you say. “But the last thing I want is for all of us to die in a magical accident right here in the Grand Proving Arena.”

Dorian huffs, but doesn’t argue, which means even he knows you have a valid point. At least if you all stay alive, you might have another chance to escape at some point.

For now, it looks like you’ll get a chance to see the slave trade up close—that is, if your mage captor keeps you and Tarquin around after finding out that the two of you have no magical talent whatsoever. In the meantime, you’ll just have to hope the Shadow Dragons can keep going without you.

After all, if three of their best agents (and one junior recruit) couldn’t manage to save Neve, your own rescue isn’t looking too promising…
